Saving your password for a website is a great convenience and time saver, but sometimes you may need to remove a saved password. The directions below will walk you through removing a saved password from each of the three web browsers we use in the district.

Safari

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click on the word Safari in your menu bar, then choose Preferences in the dropdown menu
  3. Click on the Passwords icon. To unlock this area you will need to type in the password you use to sign into your computer.
  4. In the list of saved passwords find the one you wish to update/delete and click on it.
  5. If you simply want to remove it, just click the Remove button. If you want to change it double-click on the item and a details box will pop-up. Here you can type in a new password for the website and save it.

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click on the three vertical dots icon to the right-side of the screen and then choose Settings from the dropdown. (or you can type in chrome://settings/ in the address bar)
  3. Click Password to expand the list of saved passwords
  4. Find the one you wish to remove and click the more actions button (three vertical dots)
  5. To remove, choose remove.

Note: Chrome does not give you an option to update the password here, so the next time you type in your username and password for that site you can reserve it.

FireFox

  1. Open FireFox
  2. Click on the three vertical lines icon to the right-side of the screen and choose Preferences from the dropdown (or you can type in about:preferences in the address bar)
  3. Click on Privacy and Security
  4. Scroll down until you find Logins and Passwords. Click not he Saved Logins... button
  5. To Remove, click on the item you wish to remove, then click Remove. To modify the password click on the item, then click Show Passwords. Then click Yes
  6. Next, double-click on the password to activate the input box. Type in the new password and enter
