Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPad
Use AirPlay to stream or share content from your Apple devices to your Apple TV. AirPlay tends to work better to stream videos than to mirror the whole device screen to the Apple TV.
Stream video manually from your iPad or MacBook

Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.

Find the video that you want to stream within your browser or app - ex. Safari, YouTube's site, or the YouTube app.

Tap the AirPlay button
. In some apps, you might need to tap a different button first. For example, in the Photos app, tap the Share button
, then tap the AirPlay button
.

Choose your TV from the list.

To stop streaming, tap the AirPlay button
in the app that you're streaming from, then tap your iPhone from the list.
Mirror your iPad to your Apple TV

Connect your iPad to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.

Open Control Center:

Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen

Tap the Screen Mirroring button
.

Select your TV from the list.

If an AirPlay passcode appears on your TV screen, enter the passcode on your iPad.
To stop mirroring your iPad, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then tap Stop Mirroring. Or press the Menu button on your Apple TV Remote.
