How to Run the System Flush/Refresh

In general most users do not restart their computer very often as they simply close the lid to their laptop, move to a new location, and then open the lid. This process, while most times perfectly fine, puts your laptop to sleep and then wakes it up. Once in awhile it is a good idea to restart your computer or perform a System Flush/Refresh.

While a restart typically does the trick, if you are noticing issues such as Self Service software packages will not install, you may want to perform a System Flush/Refresh. The directions below will walk you through the process.

  1. Open Self Service by click on Launch Pad, then find Self Service in your list of applications.
  2. Click on the category titled "Utilities"
  3. Find and click on the Install or Reinstall button associated with System Flush/Refresh
Note: When the System Flush/Refresh is complete your computer will automatically restart...so be sure to save any files you have open before performing this task.
